Setting 5 Goals for the Remainder of 2024
Setting goals for yourself is crucial for developing personal growth and achievement. Setting goals fosters a sense of accountability and responsibility because we are more likely to commit to our plans when we have a tangible target to aim for. The purpose of goal setting is to trigger new behaviours and to form new and improved habits for yourself. I love setting goals for myself when I feel like I am getting off-track with my daily habits and/or in relationships. It is important to remind yourself that there is never a bad time to set goals. It does not have to be the beginning of the week, month, or year, you can set goals at any time and implement them as soon as possible. Setting goals helps me take a step back and evaluate my own behaviours and set these milestones for myself to make me a better, happier person. Here are some of the goals I have set for myself for the remainder of 2024:
- Be more consistent with posting on social media. I have a passion for marketing and social media, so posting on these platforms has become a creative outlet for me. I am excited to share more of my life on social media and create a time capsule for myself to look back on.
- Read more books. Reading has been known to improve mental health, reduce stress, enhance concentration, and even improve sleep patterns. Overall, reading more books is something that will improve my mental health, and it has become an outlet for me to relax and calm my nerves.
- Communicate more effectively in relationships. I have found in most conflicts within my relationships, it all revolves around poor communication. I get frustrated when people aren't honest with me, so I am trying to reciprocate that behaviour in my friendships and relationships by ensuring I am staying honest and open with them. I want my friends to feel comfortable telling me how they feel, if something I did hurt them, etc.
- Spend money on experiences. It is important to me that I experience the most I can in this lifetime, and I believe it is a more effective use of my money to create memories with friends and family.
- Put effort into my fashion every day. I strongly believe that fashion is a way of expressing yourself and your personality. When people meet me, I want them to see me as confident and unapologetic, and I want them to get a sense of my fun-loving personality through my daily outfits.
Overall, I value goal setting as an essential part of bettering my mental health. I feel a sense of organization, self-awareness, and accountability that makes me stronger in my relationships with others and my relationship with myself. This is a reminder that it is never too late to start new habits and set achievable goals for yourself.
